Planilum
Ok so everyone remembers the liquid T-1000 from the Terminator movies but who would have thought that you could actually possess it in real life??? Well Saazs and Saint-Gobain Innovations have developed 'Planilum', over the past 6 years.

The driving force behind this idea is to replace lamps and dedicated lighting fixtures by integrating these panels in order to use as illumination sources, doing away with the need to actually buy light fixtures. Planilum only measures a mere 0.8mm thin.

Because of their soft glow, Planilum lights only get about as hot as the human body, which means that there is no need for a shade or diffuser. They are also about 90% recyclable because the design is nearly all glass. For these reasons, the Planilum can be integrated into designs that make a break from traditional lighting fixtures. In fact, the plan at Saazs and Saint-Gobain is to develop furniture and other household objects with these panels to make more functional and attractive lighting solutions.
But of course anything looking this good is going to be mega bucks so chequebooks will be required!!!
