Design Service
Our design service includes consultancy, specifying and supplying fittings as well as installation and commissioning. The design process can be broken down into several stages:
Stage 1: Analyse client requirements. This is usually done on-site, where the lighting designer will discuss design solutions for each space.
Stage 2: Plans. A lighting plan will provide positioning and circuit details. If architectural plans are not available the lighting designer will provide drawings.
Stage 3: Lighting Specification. A more detailed brief for the electrician; including product sheets, circuit schedule, wiring schematics for pre set control systems and budget estimate.
Stage 4: Co-ordinate with Contractors. The architect, interior designer, audio visual specialists, landscape gardeners and M&E consultants will all require detailed knowledge of the lighting brief. Samples can be taken to site.
Stage 5: Revisions. Plans change; alterations to the original brief, such as furniture lay-out or room use may necessitate amendments to the original scheme or to provide further drawings and detailed images.
Stage 6: Monitor progress. The lighting designer will visit the site periodically, or as determined by the client or electrician to monitor the quality and progression of the works.
Stage 7: Commission. Once the project has been completed and the furniture, artwork and other items have been positioned, the lighting designer will commission the lighting scheme. This may involve, adjusting light fittings, adding lenses and setting-up pre-set controls to create the required effect.
Lighting design fees are charged hourly for each stage of the project. Site meetings have a minimum charge of one hour (within central London) and as agreed with the client outside London. Travel time is not charged for. For further information or if you would like to arrange an appointment with one of our designers please speak to us directly on 0208 749 1900.
